PEACE supports LGBTQ2S+ employees and allies, fostering a safe and inclusive workplace. The group builds an industry-wide network, connecting professionals across the Canadian construction sector to provide resources, advocacy, and a sense of belonging that extends beyond EllisDon.

2025 Highlights

Gender Affirmation and Transition Guide

Building on the success of a Fireside Chat featuring Kieran Hawe and Kiersten Mohr, Principal at Terra Firma and representative of Modern Niagara, EllisDon proudly launched its Gender Affirmation and Transition Guide on Transgender Day of Visibility in January 2025. This guide serves as a comprehensive roadmap to support employees undergoing gender transition in the workplace.  To complement the release of the guide, EllisDon hosted two training sessions facilitated by Kiersten Mohr. These sessions, titled "Gender Diversity Basics," were designed for employees and leaders alike, focusing on eliminating employment barriers faced by transgender and gender-diverse communities. Together, the guide and training sessions reflect EllisDon's commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace for all.

Pride Parade Participation

EllisDon continues to demonstrate their visible leadership by participating in Pride Parades across Canada throughout the summer and into early Fall. The parades have served as a great way for employees to connect, celebrate and demonstrate allyship and solidarity within the LGBTQ2S+ community, often the lone representative of the construction industry. Edmonton and Toronto featured Pride Floats and a drag performer, while Ottawa held a Drag Bingo fundraiser for Kind Space, supporting LGBTQ2S+ youth and wellness programs.

LGBTQ2S+ ERG Leaders Event

PEACE also organized an in-person event at the Toronto office with LGBTQ2S+ ERG leaders from several construction companies and industry representatives. Attendees exchanged experiences, best practices, and explored opportunities for collaboration.
